Vertere Debuts The Phono-1 MkII L
British audio company Vertere debuted the Phono-1 MkII L.
Fans of the Phono-1 Phono Stage can beam in joy thanks to Vertere’s brand new release, the Phono-1 MkII L. The MkII L is an upgraded and improved version of the Phono-1 and it does not disappoint.
The Vertere Phono-1 MkII L
According to Vertere, the MkII L offers improved sound quality thanks to the “non-trivial” refinements to the circuit board layout.
The MkII L has an L-shaped gold-plated circuit board that sees the linear power supply moved to the main PCB, allowing significant track and ground plane layout optimization. You can also look forward to equal signal track lengths that lower impedances and adjust track widths to direct current flow.
You can now access and alter the gain, capacitance, and impedance settings, which is still done via the DIP switches.
Furthermore, it offers custom options including ten gain settings (40.2dB to 62.8dB ), fifteen input impedances (47k for MM, 78R to 47k for MC), and nine capacitance settings (100pF and 470pF for MM, 100pF to 1.02uF for MC ).
Apart from the improvements, Vertere kept a few things from the Phono 1. Vertere kept the three-way ground switch (Hard Ground, Ground Lift, or Soft Ground) that helped reduce any background hum.
You can differentiate the L model from the Phono 1 thanks to the orange power LED it comes with.
Price Of The Vertere Phono-1 MkII L
The Vertere Phono-1 MkII L retails at £1,350/ €1,648. It comes in a selection of panel finishes: the signature Vertere orange, silver aluminum, semi-matte black, and the new DG-1 gloss black.
