Tangent Announced Components To The PreAmp II & The PowerAmpster II
Dutch HiFi manufacturer Tangent Danmark announced the preAmp II and PowerAmpster II.
Tangent’s preAmp II and PowerAmpster II are said to draw from the other long-standing members of the Ampster family. So what do we know about Tangent’s latest announcements? Let us fill you in.
The Tangent PreAmp II
The Tangent Ampster preAmp II packs a range of connectivity into its 70x195x194 mm (HxWxD) case that should not only cater to the desktop hi-fi enthusiast but satisfy those looking for a compact hi-fi system.
You can expect Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD and Optical digital that utilises the onboard Cirrus Logic 24 bit/192 kHz DAC, RCA analogue, AUX mini-jack and a phono stage (RIAA). Not only that but, you can use the preAmp II as a headphone amplifier via the headphone jack on the front panel.
The output to a power amp is via unbalanced RCA or balanced XLR, which brings us on to the preAmp II’s stablemate, the PowerAmpster II.
The Tangent PowerAmpster II
It’s a Class D power amp that delivers 2 x 100 watts into 4 ohms or 1 x 200 into 8 ohms when in bridge mode. As a result, it should cope with most modern bookshelf and even floor-standing speakers while maintaining a small overall footprint – its dimensions are the same as the preAmp II.
The PowerAmpster II also features built-in power that promises to give “music a real punch whatever your tastes may be”.
Inputs are RCA, and balanced XLR sat alongside two pairs of speaker binding post terminals.
